Popular navigation app Google Maps has just received an update to version 4.3.

First up, users can now see businesses nearby when looking up an address. Users can also see quick facts on popular points of interest on their map.

At participating venues, you can now view an upcoming list of events and performances. And along with being able to add transit directions directly into your calendar, you can earn a Local Guides badge by sharing reviews.

A universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini, Google Maps can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.

Before today’s update, the last major version arrived back in January. Version 4.2 allows users to filter searches for restaurants by cuisine type, see current weather information for cities around the globe, and more.

I prefer using Google Maps on my iPhone and iPad, and these new features make the app even better.
