ZeptoLab cuts the price of Cut the Rope 2, now free for the first time ever on iOS
How’s this for an early holiday gift? Cut the Rope 2, the sequel to the pioneering Cut the Rope physics-based puzzle game created by ZeptoLab, can now be downloaded on iOS for free.
That’s right: Cut the Rope 2 is now available on the App Store at no cost — the first time it’s been made downloadable free of charge.
Complete price cut for Cut the Rope sequelReleased in December 2013, Cut the Rope 2 is considered the first true sequel to the original Cut the Rope game, which was launched in October 2010. In the game, players still solve physics-based puzzles to feed the cute and cuddly candy-craving creature Om Nom. But it also features new characters called Nommies to help Om Nom on his candy-crunching adventure across new locations.

Cut the Rope 2’s download price on the App Store had been vacillating between $0.99 and $2.99 over the past couple of years. But if you managed to restrain yourself from buying into the hype and you didn’t purchase the game at either cost in hopes of someday getting it at no charge, well, you’re in luck.
To reiterate: Cut the Rope 2 is now available on the App Store for free, as its price has been dropped completely to zero for the first time since its launch.
So, grab it now gratis while you can, especially since it’s yet unknown whether its being free is for a limited time only. More than likely, it’s set to be featured by Apple as its next Free App of the Week, just like Monument Valley, which went free also for the first time last week.
Note that while it’s now free to download, Cut the Rope 2 still includes in-app purchases for buying additional in-game items, unlocking new puzzles, and revealing solutions.
New magical Cut the Rope game coming soonCut the Rope 2’s going free comes just a week ahead of the release of the next installment in the Cut the Rope franchise, Cut the Rope: Magic, which is set to come out on Dec. 17.
Of course, the new entry still features physics-based puzzles with Om Nom and candy. But it also sees the introduction of new gameplay elements like the power of shapeshifting.

The Cut the Rope franchise also includes the spinoff games Cut the Rope: Experiments and Cut the Rope: Time Travel, the now defunct special holiday edition Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift, the augmented-reality game Om Nom: Candy Flick, and the virtual pet app My Om Nom. A feature-length animated film based on Cut the Rope is also in the works.
