AppAdvice Daily: iOS 4.3.1 Jailbreak, TrapCall Controversy, And Appisode 300 Is Coming!

Jay Freeman has just released a major update for Cydia, the jailbreak application store. Cydia 1.1 is "faster, slimmer, and more stable." Furthermore, the search algorithm has been much improved, and the app now features a "resume where you left off" feature.

FontSwap is a recently updated jailbreak tweak that allows users to swap the system fonts on their iDevice with alternate ones. The latest version of the app (2.0.3) provides improved support for iOS 4.3, and some minor tweaks and improvements.

DreamBoard is a new jailbreak app that allows users to easily customize their iPhone. The app, which is currently available in the Cydia Store, is a great alternative to WinterBoard – Jay Freeman’s own theme applying jailbreak application.

AT&T has started sending SMS messages and e-mails to users running MyWi on their iPhone, informing them that a subscription plan is required for tethering. MyWi allows users to tether without having to take out an additional plan, and is currently available to download via the Cydia Store.

Twizzler is a new jailbreak tweak, developed by @chpwn, which removes the official Twitter application’s very annoying trending bar. The feature was added in a recent update to the Twitter app (version 3.3), and has divided users of the application. Personally, I hate it.

TruPrint is a new jailbreak tweak developed by Intelliborn (the guys behind MyWi). This handy hack greatly extends AirPrint support - meaning you can use the service with hundreds of printers that aren't listed as being "compatible with AirPrint."

MobileNotifier is a free jailbreak app that gives your iPhone a much improved notification system – the kind of system we want Apple to introduce in iOS 5. MobileNotifier displays notifications in a banner, along the top of your handset’s screen. This is much better than having notifications bounce out and take over the screen, like they currently do in the iOS.

The famous iPhone baseband unlocker, @sherif_hashim, recently confirmed that he has found an ultrasn0w exploit that is "working for both" the new basebands - 3.10.01 and 2.10.04. Hopefully, the updated version of ultrasn0w will be available in the weeks following iOS 4.3's release.

Vibrations is a recently updated jailbreak tweak, which allows users to customize vibration notifications. Currently, the package is available via the Cydia Store for $2.99.

AptBackup is a handy, free jailbreak application that easily allows users to recover Cydia apps after having restored an iOS device via iTunes. Currently, the app is available via the BigBossRepo for free.
