Newest Rumor: A Mostly Bezel-Free 10.9-inch iPad Pro Set to Arrive
Macotakara is out with its latest iPad rumor and it’s a good one. According to the Japanese website, the long-rumored 10.9-inch iPad Pro will ship bezel-free and without a Home button.
According to the report, the new 10.9-inch model will actually use the same footprint as the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, retaining a top bezel for the front-facing FaceTime camera. The bottom bezel will be reduced in size, however.
At 7.5mm, the 10.9-inch iPad Pro will be slightly thicker than the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, although it will feature the same depth as the first iPad Air. The 9.7-inch iPad Pro has a depth of 6.1mm.
Last week, DigiTimes reported that manufacturing on the “10.5-inch iPad Pro” would begin in December ahead of a first-quarter 2017 launch.
Back in October, Makotakara said that Apple was prepping three new “Pro” tablets for spring. At the time, it was suggested that the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro could replace (or join) the current-generation 9.7-inch model. Alongside, Makotakara said we’d see a “7.9-inch iPad Pro” and second-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
Back in August, Ming-Chi Kuo with KGI Securities also noted that Apple was prepping three new iPad Pro devices for 2017. Unlike Makotakara, however, the analyst said this list would include a new 9.7-inch model, not a 7.9-inch model.
The 9.7-inch iPad Pro was announced on March 21, 2016.
