Rovio's Angry Birds Star Wars II goes free as it gets updated with new levels
July 10, 2014
Rovio has just launched another Forceful update to Angry Birds Star Wars II.
Although it's technically a sequel to the first Angry Birds Star Wars game, Angry Birds Star Wars II is a game that's actually based on the "Star Wars" movie prequels. As such, it lets you use the Force for good as part of the Bird side or choose the dark path on the Pork side.
And now, Angry Birds Star Wars II challenges you to become a Jedi Knight in 15 new Bird side levels or a Sith Knight in 15 new Pork side levels:
Get ready to MASTER YOUR DESTINY! Start as a Jedi Youngling or Sith Hopeful and rise the ranks in this all-new chapter! This time you choose what bird or pig to sling into battle from your saved characters or by scanning your Telepods!Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, the new version of Angry Birds Star Wars II is available now on the App Store. Coinciding with this destiny-deciding update, Angry Birds Star Wars II has apparently been turned by Rovio into a free-to-play game. As a result, the game, which used to cost $0.99, is now free to download on iOS, with in-app purchases offered for in-game credits. Rovio has also just updated Angry Birds Friends, reminding players about the ongoing Bird Cup Championship, which concludes on July 13. As shown in the trailer below, the tournament features levels set in the Bird Cup stadium. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. Last week, Rovio updated Angry Birds Go! with multiplayer racing and Angry Birds Seasons with new levels set in "South Hamerica."
