Tempo Smart Calendar updated with Today widget, interactive notifications and more

December 23, 2014

Tempo, the popular smart calendar app developed at the research institute where Apple’s Siri was created, has just been updated with a couple of new features for iOS 8 along with other notable improvements.

First up, Tempo now has its very own Today widget, which shows upcoming events and a key contact, with one-touch access to contact information and insights, right from the Notification Center in iOS 8.

Second, the app now provides interactive notifications, from which directions, conference call dial-ins, flight statuses, and insights are quickly and easily accessible.

In addition, the latest update to Tempo introduces evening notifications. As noted by developer Tempo AI:

Evening Notifications are a new type of notification within Tempo, that help you prepare for the next day with ease, while reminding you to close out important to do’s from the previous day. These notifications are sent after the work day and provide a breakdown of tomorrow’s important events, relevant insights neatly organized for you, and suggested follow ups from the previous day’s meetings.

The new version of Tempo also offers additional language support for Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Russian, and Swedish, in addition to English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.

What’s more, with this update, the app has expanded its international reach as it has just been launched in 26 additional countries in Asia, including Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand.

The update also delivers fixes for crashes and a display issue affecting the app’s Uber integration in iOS 8.

Tempo Smart Calendar is available on the App Store for free. It’s compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later.

Tempo is not yet optimized for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but Tempo AI says that it’s working on that improvement.

Launched for iPhone and iPod touch in February last year, Tempo was updated with universal support for iPad last September.

Tempo is featured as a “notable app” in AppAdvice’s Best Calendar Apps AppGuide.
