You Can Now Follow Specific Hashtags on Instagram

Instagram is making it much easier to keep up with your favorite hashtags. The popular social network now allows users to follow specific tags.

Whenever you visit a specific hashtag page, tap Follow to start viewing posts from the hashtag. Top posts will be available in your feed, and a number of different Stories will appear in the Stories Bar.

In a blog post, Instagram also provides a great idea on how to expand your hashtag universe:

To give you more ways to find hashtags you might like, you can check out the hashtags other people follow in their profiles. Similar to people you follow, hashtags you follow respect your privacy settings. If you set your account to private, the hashtags you follow will only be visible to your followers.

The popular social network has seen a number of new features recently

Last week, Instagram added two new features that revolved around Stories – Stories Highlights and Stories Archive.

Earlier this month, a new report surfaced highlighting some of the new features that Instagram is currently testing. Some of those include a native resharing button, the ability to add GIFs, and a Close Friends list that would allow users to share content with a small group of other users.

Instagram is also testing a separate direct messaging app in a number of countries.

The app designed for the iPhone and can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
