TripLog/1040
by Stevens Creek Software
TripLog/1040 is a solid mileage and expense tracking app. It is full featured with support expenses, frequent trips, odometer or distance readings, and export via email. The single-screen interface is both a blessing and a curse. While it is nice to not have to search for buried features, however, because everything fits onto a single screen the layout is a bit crowded and the buttons are small, especially when using the spinning wheels for setting the odometer numbers. TripLog/1040 lacks the visual panache of some of the other mileage apps but it functions well and gets the job done.

Milog - mileage log tracker
by SymplySoft
While Milog has a plain interface, it has an intuitive and clean design. Unique to this app is the ability to turn off features that you aren't interested in. With toggle switches, you may elect to hide fields such as tolls or parking that you may not need. In this way, the app is flexible to fit your needs. The export feature only drafts an email report, not an attachment. Milog also has a free version for trial, which limits your recording to five logs.

by Corey Canfield
Mobile Mileage is light on features for mileage tracking, but sports a unique feature for expense reporting, the ability to attach a picture of your receipts. So if you want to save time from typing in your expenses you may want to try out Mobile Mileage because a picture can be worth a thousand words.

MileBug - Mileage Log & Expense Tracker
by Izatt International
MileBug is a functional but limited mileage tracker. Support for multiple vehicles and drivers is limited. Exported reports are not attached to an email but instead typed out in the body of the email. Frequent trips are supported but when choosing a frequent trip you still have to enter the ending odometer setting, as opposed to the app remembering the length of the trip from before. Lastly, the app also uses the spinning odometer scroll wheels for entering mileage, as opposed to the easier and more efficient keypad.

Mileage Tracker
by TimesToCome Mobile
Mileage Tracker should really be called "Gas Mileage Tracker," because that is what this app does. If you want to track how many miles to the gallon you are getting, and email those reports as .csv attachments, then this is for you. If you want to track distance traveled for tax purposes, then you should keep looking.

Tap2Track Mileage
by Intuit, Inc.
Wouldn't it be great if you could track mileage without typing in those pesky odometer readings? The following apps try and realize the dream of GPS mileage tracking on the iPhone. Tap2Track Mileage has a dead simple interface and a great design. When you start your trip click the big start button and when you arrive click stop. No odometer readings to enter. The app supports multiple vehicles and reports are emailed via .csv attachment. Also, this app is made by Intuit, and so the generated reports are formatted specifically for import into TurboTax. Most GPS tracking apps suffer from the problem of exact mileage accuracy. With Tap2Track, the app calculates the distance between the starting and ending locations, not necessarily how many miles you drove. It doesn't take into account if you took a detour or didn't follow your google map exactly. However, out of all of the GPS tracking apps, Tap2Track is the easiest and most fun to use.

Trip Journal
by iQapps
Trip Journal is much more than just a mileage tracker, it is beautiful app for recording the events and locations for your trips and vacations. The app is rich in design with the ability to include pictures and notes along with your GPS data. The app can select destinations by GPS or manual entry and when you are back home provide statistics, media, and journal entries for your travels. It is really in a league of its own.

Driverslog Pro
by Florian Liefers
Driverslog Pro is a capable mileage tracker, but its GPS functionality doesn't benefit the user much. It essentially saves you time on entering your starting and ending destinations, but doesn't help with distance or odometer data. The exporting is done right, with .csv attachment support as well as detailed reporting with the body of the email.

DayTracker - GPS Mileage Tracking
by Research Specialists Inc
DayTracker uses a simple record button to start and stop your trips. GPS pinpoints your location and then uses Google Maps to record the distance for your trip. Your data can be uploaded to www.thedaytracker.com website, where you can then export to Excel.

Automilez - Mobile GPS Mileage Logging
by RED Method, Inc.
Automilez combines the usefulness of GPS with the practicality of odometer settings. The app tracks your movement but adds the ability to edit and refine odometer settings to improve accuracy. While it is great to have this kind of functionality in a free app, in order to unlock all of the features you have to sign up for a subscription to Automilez logbook. This additional cost will be a deterrent to some users.

TripLogger
by proxiMac
TripLogger combines GPS with odometer input to track mileage, however, sometimes inaccurate data persists. The app lacks all of the fields provided by other mileage tracking apps, such as user-defined categories, multiple vehicles, and multiple drivers. Integration with Address Book is a welcome addition and exporting options via .csv file work well.
-
$4.99
Drivers Log
by RandiRundi Consulting
Drivers Log has all of the features of many of the other mileage tracking apps above, but is supported by GPS. The GPS function is less about replacing odometer input, but more about saving you time with data entry. The interface is clean and unique but not completely intuitive, and emailed reports are in the body of the message, not by attachment.

Driven
by Shines Brighter Software
Driven tries to address the problem of most GPS trackers by logging GPS coordinates during travel, not just at the beginning and end of a trip. However, the app doesn't work consistently. In addition to accuracy issues, the exporting features are buggy and the interface lacks maturity. Lastly, if you get a call or leave the app during a trip, it stops tracking your location until you return.

RoutesMap
by bioDigits LTD.
In addition to relying upon GPS for tracking routes mileage, this app also tracks your speed with a very familiar and graphical interface. A database is also maintained of recent trip activity.
