Marie Claire Magazine

Marie Claire Magazine

by Zinio LLC

The Marie Claire magazine app offers users a subscription ($3.50/$19.99) based digital fashion magazine powered by “Zinio”. The app has an amazing holographic image of Emma Watson on its December 2010 issue that is stunning. After seeing it, I was tempted to purchase the January issue just to see its cover. The app boasts article skimming and quick access to content. Its exclusive articles have an abundance of companion videos that really take advantage of the iPad format. Though the app may be less robust than some of the other apps listed, its content makes it a worthy addition.

NET-A-PORTER Magazine

NET-A-PORTER Magazine

by THE NET-A-PORTER GROUP LIMITED

Next up is an app that provides a great way to explore the world of fashion at no cost. The Net-A-Porter Magazine app is a weekly digital cornucopia of all things fashion. Boasting a large collection of back-issues to download, it also features an innovative concept called "Shop the Look" as well as email based social networking. Bundled in an attractive user interface, the Net-A-Porter Magazine app is perfect for the fashion minded shopper on a budget. Although the app makes my list, it’s slightly sluggish when displaying images. The wealth of free fashion content that it delivers outweighs this drawback.

Cutting down on magazine clutter just got a little easier. Style on the Move magazine’s app offers digital content for $2.99 per issue. The app features an easy to use interface and an interactive table of contents. Check out fashion news feeds and articles, watch runway videos anywhere. Although the app does not offer social networking, its fashion content minimizes this shortcoming.

The app features an interactive table of contents and loads of exclusive articles with companion videos. The app also allows for text-only reading. While the app may not dazzle with all the bells and whistle of some of the other list makers, it does offer fashion content at an affordable cost.

C California Style Magazine

C California Style Magazine

by Pixel Mags

C California Magazine at $1.99 per issue features fashions and lifestyles of California. The magazine's content is so rich that I could not exclude it from the list. The app features two standout hidden gems; page bookmarking and sharing via "Bump Share". The only drawback of using "Bump Share" is that the issue owner will be unable to read the lent issue until it is returned.

Marie Claire Fall Fashion A to Z is a collection of some of the coolest fall fashion trends of 2010. This app makes the list by virtue of its collage display concept. The app features an A to Z table of contents for quick jumps to specific categories. The app also features sleek runway videos and sharing via social networking. While the current version of the app is specifically for the Fall Fashion 2010 season, hopefully an update is in the works for Spring/Summer 2011.

ShopStyle

ShopStyle

by Sugar Inc

Although ShopStyle for the iPad is not a fashion magazine app, it is a fantastic fashion portal for finding trendy fashions on the internet or in-stores. The app features a product search by designer or retail shop. The user interface offers shopping by style and then suggests shops where the items may be found. If you need advice about a blouse, dress, or anything else, this app also offers social networking to get quick opinions from friends and family. If you hate to miss a sale, ShopStyle's sales tracker will notify you when your item's price drops. The one stop shopping theme of ShopStyle design makes it a must for those that love fashion and love to shop.
