Games Destined For HDMI Mirroring With iPad 2

The iPad 2 introduces a new feature: HDMI mirroring. The new Apple Digital AV Adapter lets you plug your iPad into an HDMI equipped TV. Mirroring enables every app and the iPad's OS itself to be shown on an external monitor. The feature will be great for presentations and using things like Hulu Plus on the big screen. We think that gaming could get crazy fun with this new feature. We take a look at what games have simple enough controls that would make them work on the big screen in this AppList. Let us know if we forgot any other games you are excited to try on your TV. (We don’t showcase any of the games that work already such as Chopper 2.)

Tiny Wings

Tiny Wings

by Andreas Illiger

TinyWings is an iPhone game. We find ourselves using it on the iPad more than the iPhone, though. To control the app you simply touch anywhere on the screen. When you touch the screen your bird will close its wings. When you release the bird flaps its wings. TinyWings is going to be one of the first we try out on the big screen.

Real Racing HD

Racing games are going to be a big hit on the TV. You don’t need to look at the iPad to control this game. Simply move your iPad as a steering wheel and tap when you want to brake. The amazing graphics will look great on the TV. Real Racing HD is one of the best racing games out there for the iPad and we can’t wait to hook it up to the big screen!

Mirror's Edge™ for iPad

Mirror's Edge™ for iPad

by Electronic Arts

Mirror’s Edge for iPad is another game destined for the big screen. The controls are dead simple. You don’t need to swipe at any particular part of the screen. A few simple swipes is all it takes to control this game. The graphics are sharp and clear. Mirror’s Edge is going to look phenomenal on the big screen and we cannot wait!

SCRABBLE for iPad

SCRABBLE for iPad

by Electronic Arts

Scrabble is an interesting thought on the big screen. Right now you can use iPhones to throw pieces onto the iPad. You still need to be in reach of the iPad to place your pieces. Scrabble could be really killer on the big screen. It is not quite there, but we are hopeful it will be optimized in some way to work even better on the TV.

Infinity Blade

Infinity Blade

by Chair Entertainment Group, LLC

Infinity Blade is another app that is going to be simply killer on the big screen. The graphics are beyond great. The controls are dead simple. Swiping allows you to attack or parry. Touching a corner of your iPad screen will allow you to dodge attacks. The big problem on the big screen will be using your shield, which is enabled tapping in the center on a small icon. Infinity Blade as some truly great potential on the big screen. It may not work 100% on day one, but we hope the shield will be optimized in future updates.
