Keynote Remote Goes Free, But Hasn't Received Its Much-Needed Update

Cupertino is in a state of update-mania at the minute, with Apple having recently published updates for Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Podcasts, iTunes Movie Trailers, and Find My iPhone. In addition to this, Keynote Remote is now free for iDevice users to download and install, however the application is still missing its much-needed update.
You see, Keynote Remote hasn't been updated since June 2011. Though this two-year-old update indeed added support for Apple's iPad, the situation does mean that the application - which allows users to control Keynote using an iDevice - is missing out on support for 4-inch screens, as well as iOS 7.
As such, in its present state Keynote Remote isn't exactly going to offer iDevice owners a great user experience.
As Apple explains in the app's release notes, here's what users can expect from the archaic Keynote Remote:
Keynote Remote lets you control a Keynote presentation on your Mac, iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch from another iPhone or iPod touch in the room. While you present, view your current slide and presenter notes in portrait, or the current slide and next slide in landscape. Swipe forward to advance and swipe back to return to the previous slide. Keynote Remote works with your Wi-Fi network, so you can control your presentation from anywhere in the room. Keynote Remote can use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth when connecting to your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.Besides iOS apps, Apple has also published updates for several of its popular Mac applications (including Safari, iTunes, and Aperture). Its iWork for iCloud Web interface also received a slight makeover, along with support for collaborative projects. All of this comes following the release of iOS 7.0.3, and the unveiling of Apple's iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display. As mentioned, Keynote Remote can now be downloaded in the App Store free of charge, and is optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
