AT&T subscribers can now get their fill of DirecTV or U-Verse without it counting against their network data caps.

With a recent update to the DirectTV app users (whether or not they have an AT&T wireless account) will be able to stream live channels and recorded programs. They will also be able to download recorded programs to their device to watch offline without an Internet connection.

Similar features were already on the U-Verse app.

Both apps can be used on the iPhone/iPod touch and all iPad models and are free.

The TV providers are both owned by AT&T.

T-Mobile’s Binge On feature offers similar perks and will allow subscribers to view video from a number of video providers including YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Sling, ESPN, Showtime, and Starz.

Both apps can be downloaded now
