Catalyst's AirPods Case Offers Protection from Water, Impacts and More
The Apple AirPods case is small, well-designed, and very, very slippery. Since I’ve been using the AirPods, I’ve dropped my case at least twice on concrete causing a number of dents, scratches, and more. But Catalyst wants to help protect the AirPods from drops, scrapes, and even water with its case option.
We’re taking a closer look at the Catalyst AirPods Case and help you decide if it’s for you.

Catalyst is most well known for its lineup of waterproof cases for the iPhone, iPad, and even Apple Watch. And its option for the AirPods is definitely unique.
With an IP-67 rating, the case can protect the AirPods from water of up to 3.3 feet for 30 minutes. It’s also designed to protect from shocks and drops from up to 6.6 feet.
Because of the water resistance, the case sports a bit of a different design from other options. To install it, you’ll have to place the AirPods case inside the Catalyst option. It usually covers up the large majority of the case with the exception of a small slot on the top.
When you want to retrieve and put your AirPods back in the case, just fold over the sides to expose the ribs that provide waterproof protection.
For a few dollars more, you can snag a glow-in-the-dark version of the case. It's also available in black, white, gray, green, and purple
On the bottom of the case, the Lightning connector is protected by a small silicone piece that’s attached to the case itself. So when you need to juice the earbuds up, just remove the small piece and insert the charging cable.
Also on the bottom of the case is carabiner and connector. The carabiner is high quality and opens up a number of possibilities on where to attach the case.
I’ve been using the gray version of the case, and can highly recommend it to anyone looking to protect their AirPods. The case is lightweight and easy to use, especially when taking out the AirPods.
And I also tried out the water resistance and am happy to report that after 15 minutes in a glass of water, the case did its job. My AirPods were dry as a bone. That definitely gives me confidence Catalyst’s option will protect the earbuds from moisture while out and about.
Instead of having to worry about dropping my AirPods while taking them out of my pocket or putting them back in, the Catalyst case and its carabiner have earned a permanent spot on my backpack. It’s an inexpensive and well-made option to help protect the awesome earbuds.
