Flexibits Reimagines Your Contacts in Cardhop for Mac
Flexibits, the developers behind one of our favorite calendar apps for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, has just released a new app. Say hello to Cardhop on Mac, a new way to look at your contacts.
What is Cardhop?
Cardhop is an interactive contacts app that lives in your Mac’s Menu Bar that you’ll want to replace Contacts.app with. Why? Using Contacts has always been cumbersome and slow because it’s essentially a boring database app. Cardhop brings the magic of Flexibits’ Fantastical into contact management.
With Cardhop, it uses Flexibits’ magical parsing engine (think of Fantastical’s natural language input) to let users search, add, edit, and interact with their contacts. It also uses the built-in contacts on your Mac, so no additional configuration is needed.
Cardhop is an entirely different approach and we think it’s going to simplify and truly change the way people think about and interact with their contacts.
– Michael Simmons, founder of Flexibits
How Does Cardhop Work?
Using Cardhop is an incredibly simple affair.
Just type in something like “John G” and John’s card instantly appears. Or, you can enter “Sarah Smith sarah@cardhopapp.com” and then Cardhop adds a new contact to Sarah’s card, assuming that you already have her. Or you can type in “call Michael S” and Cardhop starts a phone call with Michael right from your Mac, or you can opt to go with your iPhone through Bluetooth.
For quick interactions with your existing contacts, you can type in the following actions: Call, Copy, Directions, Email, FaceTime, FaceTime Audio, Large Type, Message, Skype, Telegram, Twitter, URL, and VoIP, followed by the name of your contact.
Another great feature with Cardhop is the persistent notes field. It seems like a small detail at first, but it’s aimed at helping improve relationships between you and your contacts. Just add a few tidbits about the contact in question, and the next time you interact, you’ll remember more about them.
